Dear Remedy (yes, that’s your most commonly used nickname now),
KICK KICK KICK BABBLE GURGLE SMILE KICK KICK
You are so much more alert now, and every day it seems that you get more engaged in life. Your favorite thing to do right now is watch the ceiling fan spin around, and your Daddy, sister and I love trying to replicate your “ohhhhhhhh” face. You open your eyes wide and make a little circle with your mouth and always have a hint of a smile.
You’re still in a pretty predictable routine of sleeping, eating and pooping but we do get some nice stretches of playtime with you each day.
You’re also an amazing co-worker. I had a conference call last week that lasted about 90 minutes and halfway through, you woke up hungry. I nursed you and you promptly fell asleep after eating, not making a peep until after I’d hung up the phone. Thanks, kid!
You’re fully in 3-month clothes but you’re so tall that the pants are more like capris on you. You take after your sister in that way. Your hair is also starting to grow a bit, but mostly in back…so you kind of have an old man look. Still cute, kid.
Tomorrow, we go to the dermatologist to talk about plans for treating — or not! — your birthmark. Frankly, I’ve come to love it and I kiss it every day. But I’m excited to talk to the doctor about the best plans for you. The recommendations have changed pretty drastically in the last year and specifically, the last two months, so I’m hoping that he’s open to discussing all possibilities… and I hope that I’m open to hearing his advice.
We love you unconditionally, desperately and more fiercely than I’ll ever be able to tell or show you. You are my heart, you and your sister. Thank you for making me your mommy. Even if you do look just like your daddy.
