Three months. Time flies and I know that’s a cliche, but it does. You are holding your head up on your own and are much less interested in snuggling and sleeping on me than you were when we first met. I am so proud of you and love watching you get stronger and more independent but it is hard to let go, baby girl.
You are so curious about the world around you. You love to open your eyes wide and form your mouth into a little “oooh!” circle when you see something interesting — fans, dogs, your big sister, my necklace, your daddy’s scruffy weekend beard…
Like your sister, you are big and tall for a 3-month-old. My arms ache when I hold you or try to carry around your car seat, and when you sit on my lap, your pudgy little legs hang long past my knees. You love to pull my hair, too, and have been getting it wrapped around your little fist before I even know what’s happening!
You are sleeping in a crib next to my bed and I hope to keep you in with me for a while longer. It’s just so nice to reach over and grab you when you are hungry in the middle of the night, and I can look over and make sure your chest is rising and falling when I wake up in a panic. (Someday, you’ll have kids and you’ll know that while it’s irrational, it comes with the territory.)
You recently found your feet and now you’re obsessed. I can almost hear you thinking, “wow, I’m so clever! I have feet and I can reach them with my hands! Look at me!” You also love a little panda that Grammy and Grampy sent you for Christmas. You smush it up against your face and giggle.
The giggles are the best. You smile and laugh when we make silly noises (“Agoooo!”) and faces, or if we fly you in the sky like an airplane. Or anytime your big sister is around. Talk about obsessed…the two of you are already best friends and it melts my heart on an hourly basis.
We love love love you, baby girl. Thank you for making me your Mommy.
