Dang, are you starting to look more and more like your Daddy. He knows it and loves it.
The two of you are BFFs with Mommy just around to provide the food and entertainment.
Speaking of entertainment, your two favorite activities these days are 1) dancing (or watching me dance — YO GABBA GABBA!) and 2) being bounced on the bed. Now that your neck is so strong, we can lay you down and with our hands on either side of you, bounce so that you wiggle and jiggle and giggle.
The other day, Grammy asked how we’re liking parenthood and I had to giggle: it’s a dream because you are an angel. Sure, you have cranky moments but they are few and far between, which means I never think twice about bringing you out shopping, to festivals, to visit friends, etc.
The other day, I put you down on your mat for a few seconds so I could wash my hands and when I looked up, you were grinning, with drool dripping down your face…doing a push-up. And my heart soared. You are so big, and so strong I can hardly believe that you grew inside of me.
We had a lot of fun this week, video chatting with Daddy while he was on a business trip…
Dressing you up like an Elizabethan character…
…and a tiger.
And since my birthday is this weekend, I got a jumpstart on the holiday with a special onesie. This is a 6-9 month outfit but it fits you perfectly, my 5-month-old!
In about a month, we’ll probably start to offer you solid foods. I’m excited to see what you like, what you don’t, and what you think about the whole process. I know the dogs will love the mess!
I’m also starting to look for swimming lessons so that you can be a fish like your Mommy. I can’t wait to take you to classes of all kinds — swimming, music, art, gymnastics…
I love you, my beautiful baby.
