Well, I thought the headline of the week was going to be that you rolled over for the first time. But I think you’ve figured us out. You know that we’ll get down on the floor and do any number of silly faces or noises to try and encourage you to make that last little move, so instead of just doing it…you’re making us dance like monkeys.
This is honestly one of the most exciting and terrifying developments yet. I’m so proud of your strength and determination, and how far you’ve come from the tiny little creature content to just sleep on my shoulder. There’s no more of that — you are becoming more and more independent and spend your time looking around at anything shiny or spinny (our fan mesmerizes you).
But I’m terrified because it means that you’e about to be mobile. First you’ll roll, then crawl, then stand, then walk, then drive, then drive away from me…
But back to Week 19. You and I spent most of the week together because Daddy was on the road for work. When he came home, it was his birthday (yay!) and he requested only one gift: Daddy-Daughter Day. Wish granted, and the two of you had such a blast!
Your favorite places to hang out right now are the exersaucer and activity mat (at school, I hear you like the jumperoo and the Bumbo seat best). But no matter what, you need toys, and lots of them.
You have figured out that I will fetch anything you throw overboard — blocks, rattles, rings — so you are constantly making me chase after your things (sometimes it’s a race to see if the dogs or I will get there first!).
You’re back and forth on your chatter. Some days, you are nonstop “bahhhh bahhh gooo bahhh” and other days, you give me the silent treatment. You are smiling and giggling every day, but you’re just not all that easy to please.
You had your fussiest day yet over the weekend (your “fussy” is still pretty calm) so we had to pull out all our tricks.
You and your Daddy have the same calm demeanor, and I hope you’re as sweet and kind as he is (I wouldn’t mind you having some of my fire, but perhaps with a bit more patience).
Speaking of the dogs, you don’t mind them but you also don’t seem to really love them. It’s too bad, because they are sure enamored with you.
We love you so much and you really are the best thing we’ve ever done.
