Dear Audrey,
Well, hello there big girl! You continue to explode with energy — I walked into daycare to get you this week and the teachers were laughing at the loud babbles coming from your crib. Babababababababagoooooooo.
You have discovered toys, and not only shake them, but will pull toys down from their hanging spots on your car seat, will chew on them and, in the case of your exersaucer, spin spin spin!
Grammy spent the week with us and the two of you sure do love each other! She even watched you while I went to work on Friday and by the pictures and texts I got through the day, it looks like the two of you had a blast.
And I finally went through and pulled out about half of your 3-month onesies that just don’t fit anymore. I hate that you’re growing so fast!
I think I’m starting to see more signs of the little girl you will become. Your facial expressions get more animated every day and while you still aren’t quick to giggle, you are smiling a lot more.
You still love to chew on any and everything, and your favorite thing this week was holding onto your toes in a yoga-like happy baby position. That makes diaper changes a little tricky, but it’s so cute!
The crib tests are going well. I’ve been putting you down there for your weekend and before-final-bedtime naps. I think you love the extra space.
Do you have dimples? I’m starting to think so! And your eyes are still blue but I think I see more hazel/green around your pupils every day.
Love you, my little drool monster.
Mommy

Glad to hear things are going well! And OMG, I love those football pants, where did she get those?
Aren’t they adorable? They’re actually Baby Legs leggings, one of my very favorite products. They make diaper changes so easy!

She’s beautiful! I forget if we’ve discussed this, but did she sleep in the Rock n Play? G did, and we had to transition him from that to a special wedge in his crib (for reflux). Not he has outgrown the reflux (yay!) AND the wedge (boo) and we have to get him lying flat on the crib. It’s TOUGH. We can do naps but we haven’t done nights yet. And I have to get him flat for nights by the end of the month because we’re traveling and he’ll need to sleep in a flat pack n play! If you are transitioning from the R&P, do you have any tips?! I cut the bunny ears from the R&P and put them in the crib as a “pillow,” (he’s practically crawling so I think it’s safe). Other tips welcomed!

She still naps in the Rock n Play but never slept overnight in it (we have an Arm’s Reach co-sleeper in the bedroom). And the longest nap she’s ever taken in the crib is about 3 hours, so I’m a little worried about what will happen when we try our first overnight.
What does he do when you try and lay him flat now? Does he fuss or just not fall asleep? Do you guys use a pacifier?

we transitioned olivia from the rock n play to her crib about 1.5 months ago. it was tough at first but she eventually got it. we just kept picking her up and putting her down when she’d fall back to sleep. She’s had about a week of rough sleep this past week and for the past 3 nights she’s slept in there…no we have to re-transition to crib all over again. Hopefully it won’t be bad.
She is getting so big! And beautiful! I can’t believe she’s outgrown the co-sleeper! This has me wondering though…as I’ve just received my baby shower gifts for the little one we’re expecting on April 8, do you have a Pack N’ Play? I got a co-sleeper (after seeing how much you loved it!) but we also got a Pack N’ Play that has a bassinet attachment. I’m wondering how different they are? I mean there aren’t many differences that are apparent to me other than the co-sleeper has the one side that comes down so the baby is really easy access, but I’m wondering if the pack n’ play is a better investment long term since it is bigger? So many different options! Oh, and I definitely got the Rock N’ Play after your recommendation and am planning to use that a lot in the living room. So that’s why I’m feeling like maybe I have too many items, when you add those to the swing, the bouncers and of course a normal crib. This kid has gear! Which is why if the co-sleeper, which I love the idea of and really don’t want to give up, is too much of the same as the Pack N’ Play, maybe it is one piece we can return?? Would love your thoughts!
-Signed a clearly 8 months pregnant lady who is starting to panic about the realness of this thing growing inside her! Ahh! haha
Thank you so much! This week, she started to roll onto her side in the co-sleeper…I’m proud of her and terrified at the same time
I don’t have a Pack ‘N’ Play but to be honest, if I had it to do again — It’d get a PNP instead of the Arm’s Reach (the co-sleeper is really great for rolling over and getting baby for middle-of-the-night nursing but I ended up standing up to get her more often than not anyway). The Arm’s Reach is designed to be portable but since it attaches to the bed, I never really found it easy to move out of our room. (I also have the mini, which I now regret.)
I may end up getting a PNP for downstairs naps or taking her to friends’ houses.
So, my advice:
**use the PNP in your room as a co-sleeper/bassinet
**keep the swing and the RNP
**consider returning the Arm’s Reach
I am so sorry if my review led you astray … I really do love the Arm’s Reach and it was a godsend in the first few weeks. But once she started sleeping in longer stretches, I probably could have gotten more use out of the PNP.
Do keep in mind, though, that all of the items you’re talking about will get you lots of money at resale. I’m planning on selling my co-sleeper soon and will probably use that money toward a PNP. The swing and the RNP will bring in lots of money.
P.S. AHHHHHH so excited for you!

Thank you so much for the response, that is so helpful! It’s so hard to know what is going to work until you actually try it or know someone who has, and the co-sleeper product is so new that I don’t know anyone who had actually tried it. I didn’t think we’d end up getting both the PNP and the co-sleeper as gifts, but once we did and we set them up they just seemed so similar! -Aside from how small the co-sleeper is in comparison (we got the mini). If we had endless gobs of money and space in our house, we’d keep them both and I’m sure the co-sleeper would be better right at first…but since we don’t (!) I’m so glad to get your feedback so I can feel like it’s OK to return the co-sleeper to help get our travel system
Thanks Katy!
