There are four areas in which I just don’t do well, despite my best efforts:
- math and spatial relations
- style and design
And you should know, it pains me to admit when I am not good at something. It’s the Type A perfectionist in me. When I don’t know something, I study it until I’m an expert. When I want to accomplish something, I set out and do it.
Cooking? Disastrous. The other night, I set a fire in my oven — did you even know that was possible — and my husband now has a burn scar to remember that special night where he put it out (with the fire extinguisher almost getting called into action).
Math? Oi. I count on my fingers or use the calculator on my phone because I have such a terrible track record.
Directions. The other day, I needed to get home from a doctor’s appointment about 15 minutes away. So confident that I could not possibly get lost, I opted not to use my car’s GPS software. You guessed it: I got lost. I took the bridge the wrong way which ended up being a 40 minutes mistake.
And that brings us to style and design.
I just don’t have the intuitive instinct to put colors, shapes, styles, etc. together (and yes, I’m super jealous of all of you that can just “throw on something casual” and look amazing). My closet is black on black on gray and mostly made up of leggings and other athleisure wear.
My house is designed in what I’ll lovingly call a minimalist design and that’s just because I panic every time I try to buy a pillow or hang photographs.
Plus, I’m a mom so I just assume anything precious will get smashed to bits or spit up on.
Their new LATCH line (see the bottle here: http://bit.ly/1QgYLHC) is designed to go with any decor. The products are beautiful — yes, baby products can be beautiful! — and intelligent, so they’re really functional.
What I love is that they make it really easy to stay clutter-free (which come to think of it, IS my design sensibility!). The bottles and accessories are simple to clean, especially with some of the tools in the Munchkin LATCH line and they store away quickly and without taking up a ton of room in my pantry or cabinets.
The line is also good for various ages — newborns, babies and toddlers — and since we’re about to go from just breastmilk to solids with Remy (oh, boy, here come the messes!) I’m so glad that we have these products to make it all more fun.
A few things that I really love:
- The accordion-style nipple on LATCH stretches like the breast, helping baby latch easily and correctly. (That can be really helpful if your baby has reflux or colic.)
- The bottles are designed to make it easy for baby to go from breast to bottle and back, which is a huge concern for most nursing moms (sure is/was for me!).
- There are brushes for pumps and pump parts AND for bottles, and they come with these nifty little valve brushes to get into tight spots
- Everything is BPA free
I love finding and sharing products that work for our family, so I hope this helps you!
