Do you ever have those moments where, maybe right before you drift off at night or while you’re staring out the window on a long car ride, you think of all of the things you would do if you won the lottery?
For me, that dream is never about a mega millions payout. It’s about a comparatively small amount. Just enough to pay off our car loans, pay off our mortgage, maybe take a nice vacation, send some money to our families and of course — put enough in our kids’ Florida Prepaid College Plans to take away the burden of student loans.
If you have the same dreams, and you’re a Florida family, you should enter the Florida Prepaid Scholarship Giveaway!
Florida Prepaid Scholarship Program
- Ten Florida families will win two free years of college from the Florida Prepaid College Foundation. Each is valued at more than $8,000 (!!!).
- This is part of the Florida Prepaid College Foundation’s commitment to increase awareness about how important it us to save for college (and did you know that September is College Savings Month?)
- Florida residents with kids or grandkids aged newborn through 8th grade can enter, and the giveaway period runs through October 23, 2016.
To enter, head to www.floridaprepaidscholarshipprogram.com.
You can even get chances to earn extra entries by answering questions or learning more about saving for college.
What happens if you don’t win? You can start your own plan or plans during Open Enrollment, which launches October 15, 2016 and ends February 28, 2016. (For more information, visit www.myfloridaprepaid.com.)
We talk to our kids about saving money. They’re little, but I really want to instill the idea that even if we did win the lottery, we’d still make smart money choices, and we’d still encourage them to invest in their own educations and futures. And studies show that starting those financial conversations early can motivate students to prepare academically for college and help them reduce or even avoid student loan debt.
I really encourage you to get to know the Florida Prepaid options and determine what makes sense for your family. Even a few dollars a month can add up to a nice cushion for you and your children, and I’m really proud that we’ve been able to set our kids up to believe in their dreams and go after whatever goal they set for themselves.
