(This is a sponsored post/product review in partnership with SunTaker.com. SunTaker’s products include towels, poncho towels and bandanas, with lab-tested fabric that blocks 96% or more of the sun’s harmful UV rays. The fabrics also have anti-microbial technology to reduce bacterial growth and eliminate odors. And, yay, they are made in the U.S.A.!)
Florida is NASTY hot right now. My car’s air conditioning has basically quit on me, the humidity almost punches us in the face when we walk out to the car (even at 7 a.m.) and I’ve been giving my poor dog ice cubes to suck on, just to try to stay cool.
The Sunshine State is an incredible place to live for 10 months out of the year, when the rest of the country is suffering through winter storms, but for July and August, it’s almost unbearable.
The only way we do bear it is by spending as much time as possible in the pool. It’s one of the reasons I was so adamant that Audrey get her ISR swim lessons completed this year. Not only do we all spend family time in the water every Sunday, it’s fairly common for me and/or Lucas to go in for a night swim as an alternative to sitting in front of a fan.
The team at SunTaker reached out to me a few weeks ago and introduced me to their products, and then offered to send me (and Audrey!) a special package. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect: would the fabrics be too heavy? Would they be too small to dry us off?
As soon as I took the poncho out of the bag, I knew that at least one person was happy with the product. My little superhero put on the poncho inside and ran around with a big smile on her face (I was actually tempted to let her keep it on through dinner, as a giant bib!). But the real test came when we went out to the pool.
After swimming from mom to dad to mom to dad to mom, and jumping from the pool deck into the water about a million times, we all got out and I put the poncho on Audrey. Again, big smiles! The fabric is really, really light but very absorbent, so Audrey was able to be blocked from the sun without overheating.
What I love:
- very light fabrics that block the sun’s rays (we put sunscreen on before the pool, of course, but the poncho is great for letting her dry off for a few minutes without a new coat)
- easy to wash, and the technology that blocks the sun doesn’t wash out
- great for pool and bath time (Audrey HATES having her hair dried, but doesn’t mind having the poncho hoodie on her head)
I also received an adult towel and bandana, which I’ll be reviewing in the coming weeks over on KatyWidrick.com. Happy shopping!
