You are my spirited, animated, joyful, mischievous, silly, squealing, demanding, loud, playful little creature and every day with you is an amazing adventure.
While you remain a mama’s girl, you are more independent by the day. You’re still nursing (a lot) but unlike the first six months of your life, you really only turn to me for food or comfort, and you are more and more interested in being with your Daddy and your big sister.
But you have needed my comfort quite a bit over the last month. Your teeth continue to come in — painfully — and we’re dealing with a nasty sleep regression that has us snuggling at least two times during the night.
The biggest headline for you is that you have mastered the skill of pulling yourself up. You’re still not able to balance on your own, but I feel your little fingers pulling up on my legs as I work at my desk, and I watch you navigate the width of the couch with ease. And seriously…I’ve never seen a happier baby than you when we hold your hands and help you walk.
Know what else you love? Scary stuff. Stuff that makes my heart drop to my stomach. You like it when we toss you in the air and catch you. You are delighted when we pretend to drop you (you’re fully protected, I promise!). The moment one of us lifts you up to sit on our necks and grab onto our hair for balance, you squeeeeeeeal. And since you have this funny inside-out laugh that sounds more like a frog croaking, it makes us all laugh in response.
Working from home is…well, hard. I say that every month and it just keeps getting more challenging.
I know it will be a relief to have you in school in a few months but at the same time, I know that I’ll miss having you as my little buddy.
You are my precious baby. I love you more than you’ll ever know.
