16 months is FUN! It’s silly, and tantrum-filled, and naughty and pretty amazing.
(Thanks for the picture, Emily!)
You not only walk, you RUN, and I’m finding it hard to keep up with you. You climb *everything.* You touch *everything.* You dance and giggle and squeal. (Especially when your Daddy is nearby.)
But you’re still a serious, thoughtful child. While you’re very social (too social?) at school, you need a while to warm up to others and it’s funny for me to watch you size everyone up.
What you don’t think about? FOOD! You eat anything and everything, with one exception — potatoes. You. Do. Not. Like. Potatoes. Green smoothies: check. Tabbouleh: check. Beets, carrots, corn, chick peas, black eyed peas, broccoli, tomatoes: check.
You want to do everything for yourself, and if I try to help, you dissolve into a tantrum.
But then you calm down and when I ask, you give me the most fierce hug. It is the best thing ever. EVER. I’ll admit that I ask you for hugs pretty much 24/7, and every time you indulge and lay your head on my shoulder, I get a little misty.
Another skill you’ve started excelling at? Sign language!
Right now your repertoire includes: milk, please, thank you, dog and more, but you are also starting to use happy and fun if I demonstrate first.
You love to copy whatever we do, which is getting more and more dangerous…time to clean up our language, I think! The other day, you wagged your finger at the dog and said “no,” which is what I do when they get underfoot.
But it’s also really cool, like when you join me in yoga.
You are an amazing child, and it’s hard to believe that you’re mine all mine. I can’t believe how quickly time is flying!
